We will instill a mindset of going through obstacles, never around them!

Course Description:

This course is designed to prepare students for pre-calculus. It involves the study of a review of algebra 1 and Algebra 2 through quadratic equations.

Course Competencies/ Learning Objectives

Students who successfully complete Algebra 2 will be competent in the following areas:

  • Analyze and represent vector and matrix quantities in solving problems.
  • Analyze and use structure in expressions to solve problems
  • Solve problems when applying concepts of rational expressions
  • Create and use algebraic models to connect mathematical concepts and properties when solving real-world problems
  • Explain and justify reasoning when solving equations, inequalities, and systems of equations.
  • Interpret, analyze, and use functions when applied in a variety of contexts, including real-world phenomena.
  • Build functions that model relationships between two quantities.
  • Distinguish among situations that can be represented with linear, quadratic, and exponential models and provide evidence to support reasoning.
  • Apply algebraic models to express geometric relationships.
  • Apply statistical methods or reasoning to summarize, represent, and interpret categorical and quantitative data.

Both are considered serious offenses and will significantly affect your course grade. Please refer to the Student Code of Conduct booklet for additional information.

Methodology

A combination of lecture, class discussion, presentations, videos, cooperative learning, and problem-based learning will be used in this course. Grades will be determined by the satisfactory and timely completion of assignments. The grade of each assignment is based on the prerequisite given for each assignment. Below is an overview of topic/ units and major assessments/assignments for this course. Please note dates/timeframes are subject to change and are an estimate.
